Once again summer is upon us. Unfortunately that means with fun comes more injuries and illnesses.
Protect yourself while outside this summer. Below is a few things to keep in mind while in the heat:
Drink plenty of water
Wear sunscreen and apply regularly
Wear bug repellent outside to prevent bites and stings especially ticks
Be careful around water and wear a life jacket
Monitor children closely (it only takes a second to change your life)
Watch out for animals and know what to do if you come across them
Wear a helmet if out biking
Know signs of heat related illnesses such as cramping, nausea, vomiting, feeling faint, not sweating any longer, skin extemely hot to the touch, and any other time you just dont feel normal. If you notice these get out of the sun and drink plenty of water right away.
The main thing is enjoy the summer but be careful.
I am planning multiple Wilderness First Aid classes this summer so please sign up so you know what to do if something bad does happen.
HAVE FUN!
